EN 1522, EN 1523 and EN 1063: Bullet resistance (FB classes)

European standard for bulletproof doors, windows, and walls

The EN 1522 and EN 1523 standards define how bulletproof structures are tested against various weapons, calibers, projectiles, and shooting distances.

  • EN 1522 describes classes FB1 through FB7.
  • EN 1523 specifies how the tests are conducted (distance, angle, projectile velocity).
  • EN 1063 defines the bullet resistance of glass.

Presenting these certificates guarantees that a door, window, or wall offers a proven level of bullet resistance.

Classes available at Armatis:

FB4 – FB6 (higher = resistant to heavier calibers)

The European standards EN 1522 and EN 1523 form the basis for Armatis' bulletproof solutions. While the standard determines the classifications, the test method describes exactly how structures are exposed to real-world ballistic attacks. For glass solutions, this is supplemented by EN 1063 (BR classes).
