EN 1627 – EN 1630: Burglar-resistant doors, windows, and constructions (RC classes)

European standard for bulletproof doors, windows, and walls

The standards EN 1522 and EN 1523 determine how bulletproof structures are tested against various weapons, calibers, projectiles, and firing distances.

  • EN 1522 describes classes FB1 to FB7
  • EN 1523 determines how the tests are performed (distance, angle, projectile velocity)
  • EN 1063 determines the bullet resistance of glass

The ability to present these certificates guarantees that a door, window, or wall offers a proven level of bullet resistance.

Classes available at Armatis:

RC2 - RC3 – RC4 – RC5 (higher = more resistant to professional tools)

The European standards EN 1627 to EN 1630 form the basis for all Armatis burglar-resistant solutions.

Where EN 1627 determines the resistance class (RC) achieved by a door, window, or wall, EN 1630 describes how the practical tests are carried out. This is supported by buildwise (link: https://www.buildwise.be/en/).

These are not theoretical assessments: each product is exposed to realistic, intensive burglary scenarios, carried out with specific tools for a predetermined period of time. The tests simulate real attacks: from screwdrivers and grinders to heavier tools.

Armatis provides solutions up to RC5, the highest level commercially available in Belgium, which can withstand:

  • prolonged, aggressive attack attempts
  • heavy and professional tools
  • extreme mechanical loads

Our burglar-resistant doors, glass, and wall systems are therefore among the very best on the market. They not only offer certified resistance, but also peace of mind in environments where security is non-negotiable, such as banks, jewelers, government buildings, data centers, and critical infrastructure.
